The VASO Conference was supposed to start at 8:20AM and end at 5PM.. right.. It was held at Providence Medford Hospital. The ride up was really nice (and safe, no ice on the roads). Jared was really tired and later told me he found a couch in the hospital and just slept for three hours straight.
Most of the speakers were fairly boring or talking about subjects way to advanced for lowly OIT students (lol).
During lunch Jared and I snacked on the sandwiches provided. I didn't want to stay for the Q&A panel at the end so we stayed for another speaker, then left. The guy who spoke before we left turned out to be the best. Jared came and sat with me in the room because it was so entertaining watching from outside. The guy was very charismatic. He talked about motivation and success. I really enjoyed it.
After the VASO Conference:
We went to the mall first to get something to eat and I needed running shoes badly.
We explored the stores and walked around the mall for a while looking at everything.
I took a ton of pictures of the candied apples in this one chocolate shop. They looked delicious and there were dozens of them!
We shared a smoothie and Jared looked at games in Gamestop.
After we'd explored the mall thoroughly....
... we went to find things around town. We stopped at the library...
... but after realizing it was closed, we walked around a few of the blocks nearby.
That was a really good decision because it turned out that the monthly art festival was going on.
We had something similar in Eureka, called Arts Alive. It was one night a month when dozens of local artists would display their work in little shops and businesses in a few blocks.
Usually there are other things going on as well, such as the fire dancer that we saw and the flute players and a band in one corner while a dozen other things were going on. I took a ton of pictures! I also managed to get a brief clip of the fire dancer on my camera too. It was really cool walking around and exploring.
There was this one little flower shop that I didn't get any pictures of unfortunately because my camera died, but it was probably one of my favorite places we stopped in.
I also took pictures of these 'fairy' dollhouses made by one of the local artists. It was really interesting. They were gourds that had been cut open with little ladders and beds and stairs and swings and a ton of other details.
Once we'd exhausted ourselves we finally went back to Klamath Falls.
